This selection comes from small productions in the center of the country, south of Mount Kenya, on the high plateaus of the "Kiambu" appellation. The plots reach up to 1900 meters above sea level.
It is important to specify the singularity of Kenya in terms of the preparation of green coffees. Kenya has in fact inherited from the British one of the most efficient preparation methods (in terms of cup quality). This process, known as "Kenyan washing" or "double washing", is part of a real national know-how. This method of preparation has given Kenya one of the most prestigious places in the world of specialty coffees, producing coffees with brilliant acidity for many years now. This method of preparation, with undeniable virtues, however poses an environmental challenge concerning the sustainable management of the water used.TERROIR
The Mount Kenya region is the highest point in Kenya (5,199 m) and the second highest peak in Africa behind Kilimanjaro. It is located in the center of the country, just south of the equator, 150 kilometers from the capital Nairobi. Mount Kenya is a red volcano born three million years ago.
